A Paradise at Coron Palawan, Philippines

A Paradise at Coron Palawan, Philippines

Now I know you guys have enjoyed the summer season, or should I say, the vacation season here in the Philippines. I'm sure many of you guys went to one or more of the many beautiful places here in our beloved country. And I really hope you had a great time and made lasting memories with your trip.

While most of you guys prefer the famous beaches of Boracay or the scenic views of Bohol, some rarely knew a paradise in Palawan. I had this chance to visit this special place in Palawan called Coron, and I would like to share my experience with you guys. Maybe you could send your stories to me as well? Well, here goes mine.

Coron is a part of the Calimian Group of Islands in northern Palawan. Upon arriving at Coron, you could easily tell that fishing and tourism is the main livelihood of the residents. Most of the people who live here are friendly and hospitable. You can feel that they are very proud of this paradise and are excited to share it to the tourists.

After arriving at the Busuanga airport, we then went straight to our reserved cottage at a nearby village, about an hour drive away from the airport. We don’t really have that much of a budget for this trip, which led us to a very respectable yet affordable cottage at Crystal Lodge. Not the ideal hotel city-people would prefer, but certainly provides a very relaxing and unique experience. The floating cottages are made of traditional bamboo and iron woods.

So after packing our stuff at our awesome cottage, we then went island-hopping. The sea is calm which makes it perfect to ride a Bangka (wooden boat). Our first destination is the Kayangan Lake, which is the cleanest fresh water lake in the country. You will be amazed by the blue waters and the cliffs surrounding the lake.

Next, Siete Picados, is composed of seven mini-islands and is ideal for snorkeling. You could really see a lot of different species of fish and corals in this site. There’s also this Shipwreck diving location, wherein you could see a sunken Japanese warship under the sea. Another lake, called the Baracuda Lake (that’s what the boatman said), is another lake covered with stiff rocks. Well, I believe I’m a pretty good swimmer but this lake really scared me. If you swim at the middle of the lake and you have your goggles, try looking below and you’ll know what I mean.

We then went to a white beach nearby. Typical of a Filipino family having their family trip, we brought along some food for lunch to save some money.

The trip to the islands ended and we headed back to the cottage to get some rest, and of course, dinner. After having a great, sea-foods filled dinner at our very comfortable cottage, we then went straight to Maquinit hot springs. It’s a 30-minute tricycle drive away from our cottage. It is a natural hot spring with very good therapeutic properties. Such a great way to end a whole-day of island-hopping is to dip into this hot, swimming-pool like, natural hot spring. Seems like all the stress the city has given me was melted away.

At last, the end of a very relaxing day. OF course, we ended the day with a good night sleep at our amazing cottage. The next morning, we woke up early to visit the hilltop, wherein there is a view deck. You could see the islands of Coron at the top, and a scenic sunrise view.

This completes our short family trip at Coron Island in Palawan. Next destination: CamSur Watersports Complex in Bicol!

Hopefully, this gives you an idea of a wonderful place to visit here in our country, Philippines.

Marriage or Home? Which comes first?

We had this public launch of Nuvali, a masterplanned mixed-use development by Ayala Land Inc. in Sta. Rosa-Canlubang Laguna, just recently. And as a real estate professional, I have to be active and participate this special event. The problem is, I don't have any guest. It really troubled me for a while, so I thought about it and said to myself "maybe I should just enjoy the event and just invite my girlfriend to go with me." And so I invited her and went straight to Nuvali.

What an event it was! We were really amazed by the really, really quick development of the project. I remember the time when I started attending seminars about Nuvali in 2007, and it really seems like pipe dreams and marketing campaigns to me. But now look! People could already see the man-made lake, retail stores beside the lake, discovery center and a BPO Campus.

So we went beside the lake, took a couple of photos, walked at the event and saw people attending different kinds of recreational activities. You could see the smile on each and everyone's faces as they walk with their family, children, and loved ones. You could easily tell, they are previous buyers and investors at Nuvali. And they are enjoying the event Ayala Land has made for them.

We then went to Avida Settings Nuvali, which is currently the project I am offering together with Treveia, and visited the different house models: Thea, Maia, and Celena. My girlfriend started looking at the interior of the model houses as if she was buying for her own, or maybe, ask me to buy for her. Now that really, really scared me, as I am still trying to invest my time, knowledge and effort on this profession.

Then I start to wonder, does buying a home comes first as a priority than simply tying the knot and probably renting an apartment, or worse, living with your parents? Nothing wrong with that last option, but hey, my parents might start scratching their heads and say "when do you think we could retire, honey?"

As a man, you have this sense of responsibility that you want to be able to provide for your family and loved ones everything they need in life, including shelter. I believe homes are not just for shelter, but for countless memories you could establish and create within that home. You want to look for the best home for your family, and create a very good environment with your wife and kids.

At that moment when I saw her looking at the houses, I did swear to myself that someday, I'm going to buy a house like this for her. Maybe not now, but I'll work hard for me to be able to someday. Before or after marriage, who knows? But I'll definitely make it.

Now some are luckier than me, who has the capacity right now to buy and purchase the dream home they desire. Maybe you should bring your love ones to this development, look into their eyes and think, "I want this for them."
