A Paradise at Coron Palawan, PhilippinesNow I know you guys have enjoyed the summer season, or should I say, the vacation season here in the Philippines. I'm sure many of you guys went to one or more of the many beautiful places here in our beloved country. And I really hope you had a great time and made lasting memories with your trip.
While most of you guys prefer the famous beaches of Boracay or the scenic views of Bohol, some rarely knew a paradise in Palawan. I had this chance to visit this special place in Palawan called Coron, and I would like to share my experience with you guys. Maybe you could send your stories to me as well? Well, here goes mine.

Coron is a part of the Calimian Group of Islands in northern Palawan. Upon arriving at Coron, you could easily tell that fishing and tourism is the main livelihood of the residents. Most of the people who live here are friendly and hospitable. You can feel that they are very proud of this paradise and are excited to share it to the tourists.
After arriving at the Busuanga airport, we then went straight to our reserved cottage at a nearby village, about an hour drive away from the airport. We don’t really have that much of a budget for this trip, which led us to a very respectable yet affordable cottage at Crystal Lodge. Not the ideal hotel city-people would prefer, but certainly provides a very relaxing and unique experience. The floating cottages are made of traditional bamboo and iron woods.

So after packing our stuff at our awesome cottage, we then went island-hopping. The sea is calm which makes it perfect to ride a Bangka (wooden boat). Our first destination is the Kayangan Lake, which is the cleanest fresh water lake in the country. You will be amazed by the blue waters and the cliffs surrounding the lake.
Next, Siete Picados, is composed of seven mini-islands and is ideal for snorkeling. You could really see a lot of different species of fish and corals in this site. There’s also this Shipwreck diving location, wherein you could see a sunken
Japanese warship under the sea. Another lake, called the Baracuda Lake (that’s what the boatman said), is another lake covered with stiff rocks. Well, I believe I’m a pretty good swimmer but this lake really scared me. If you swim at the middle of the lake and you have your goggles, try looking below and you’ll know what I mean.We then went to a white beach nearby. Typical of a Filipino family having their family trip, we brought along some food for lunch to save some money.

The trip to the islands ended and we headed back to the cottage to get some rest, and of course, dinner. After having a great, sea-foods filled dinner at our very comfortable cottage, we then went straight to Maquinit hot springs. It’s a 30-minute tricycle drive away from our cottage. It is a natural hot spring with very good therapeutic properties. Such a great way to end a whole-day of island-hopping is to dip into this hot, swimming-pool like, natural hot spring. Seems like all the stress the city has given me was
melted away.At last, the end of a very relaxing day. OF course, we ended the day with a good night sleep at our amazing cottage. The next morning, we woke up early to visit the hilltop, wherein there is a view deck. You could see the islands of Coron at the top, and a scenic sunrise view.
This completes our short family trip at Coron Island in Palawan. Next destination: CamSur Watersports Complex in Bicol!
Hopefully, this gives you an idea of a wonderful place to visit here in our country, Philippines.
